Application for Membership

West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeastern Michigan

Effective January 1, 2002, our Constitution and By-Laws have been changed to allow two types of membership:

Active Membership requires that the applicant attend two meetings initially to apply and be approved for membership and at least one meeting per year thereafter to maintain membership. An active member is expected to attend meetings, be active in the work and activities of the Club and is eligible to vote and to be an officer of the Club. Print the application, fill it out and bring it with you to the next meeting to apply.

Associate Membership is now available for those who want to be a Club Member but cannot attend meetings. An Associate Member is not eligible to vote or hold office but can attend meetings and club events and receive various communications such as the WagTales Newsletter. Print the application, fill it out and mail it to the Membership Chair as instructed on the form, along with the application fee. Understand that use of the Club name in advertising is allowed only with written permission from the Club Board.

1 year free memberships for puppy buyers and adopters Any one who buys a puppy from a Club Member or adopts a rescue from our rescue service, is eligible for a free 1-year membership.

Active – All applicants for ACTIVE status must be sponsored by TWO Active Members of the Club, in good standing. Dues are $20 per year for the active applicant and $8 for any additional household members; the household members will be considered “associate” members unless they are also present and apply for membership. A non-refundable application fee in the same amount as the dues is required at the time of application; the application will remain active for two meetings beyond the initial meeting. If the applicant has not returned for the second reading after two meetings following the initial application, the application shall expire. A new application can be made at any time but a new application fee would be required. If the applicant is accepted into the Club at the second reading, the application fee will be converted to the first year’s dues. Associate – All applicants for ASSOCIATE status must fill out the application, send in a non-refundable application fee equal to the first year’s dues of $20 per year for the associate applicant and $8 for any additional household members; the household members will also be considered “associate” members. The application will be considered by the Club and voted upon at the first meeting of the Club following the receipt of the completed application by the Membership Chair and if the applicant is accepted into the Club, the application fee will be converted to the first year’s dues.
